Hair Removal

laser-image-1One of the most common elective cosmetic procedures available today, laser hair removal is a safe and permanent option for both men and women. Using gentle pulse of high-powered laser waves, the hair follicles are targeted and destroyed at the root. This eliminates unwanted hair from the treated area, and prevents it from growing back.

Your Questions Answered

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

The laser emits a gentle beam of energy that passes through the skin to the hair follicle. The energy is transformed into heat, which damages the hair cell.

How many treatments are needed?

Laser Hair Removal destroys the hair follicles and impairs the hair growth during its growth cycle. Not all hair follicles are active at the same time. Depending on the growth cycle of the follicles when the procedure is done, anywhere from 8-16 or more treatments may be required to obtain the desired effect.

Is the treatment painful?

While discomfort varies from person to person, most find the treatment very tolerable. Cold air and ice packs are applied to add comfort. In some areas, a topical anesthetic can be applied.

What can I expect following the treatment?

Once the session is complete, patients can resume normal activity. Most patients experience a slight redness around the hair follicles following treatment that typically goes away in a few hours. It is important to avoid sun exposure and use sun block immediately following the treatment. Hair may continue to grow for one to two weeks after the procedure, but will eventually fall out.

It is important to note that the white hairs will not be affected by the laser energy.

Pigmented Lesions (Brown Spots)

Our Cynosure laser treats sun spots and aging skin effectively. The light energy delivered by the laser will gently be absorbed by the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions in the upper layers of the skin. Over the next few days the pigmented lesions will darken and fall off. Pigmented lesions can be removed by full-face or spot-treat superficial resurfacing. Either procedure allows patients to experience quick recovery with smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, and an immediate change in skin texture and tightness.

Facial Vein Treatments

Facial Veins are bothersome at best, unattractive at worse. Fortunately, with cosmetic laser treatment, you can make yourself look and feel a whole lot better-often times with as little as only 1 or 2 visits. A cosmetic laser emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein. The laser “selectively” targets the problem veins while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel will naturally disappear.
